近年来欧美流行水下分娩。水下分娩的支持者们认为，
在充满温水的分娩池中分娩，可以减少孕妇在整个分娩过程中的痛楚。
由于分娩池与母亲子宫内的羊水环境类似，因此胎儿在离开母体以后
会很适应这一新的外部环境。胎儿的“本能”会使他们在出水前屏住
呼吸，不会呛水，而且，在水下诞生的婴儿比普通方式诞生的婴儿受
到伤害的概率要小。
