How to test a lens?

is there some effective menthod to test a lens except MTF tester?
By now,I often encounter the issue of dark corner when do camera module assemble,the first I have to say the displacement error of the lens holder and the sensor we did is below the tolerance,and the image circle is alos much biggger than actual the active sensor diagonal size.So i'm very puzzle with thatt issue?
  is any boday here have the experience on that,pls share with us,I will appreciate about that!!
